This was a Great essay. I strongly believe that, if Somalia were still under the Islamic court, we would have had peace by now. That itself has its pros and cons. If Somalia, were still Ruled under the Islamic court, it would have been the world against Somalia. I mean, there is no way that some countries would allow a strong Muslim nation to raise. It would be a threat to some countries that take adventage of our fall, after all Somali’s are very intelligent, and if we did not have this tribal disease. we would have been THE strongest country in Africa. (1) The Root-causes of the United Nations’ Failure in Somalia is a great book every informative about the past and the present history of somalia

Thanks for efforts made to highlight some of our downfalls.

I have one worry about what I hear or read for these days and that is Islam faith and the DIIN is to be used same as western writing of coding or "cut and paste" when sincerely and heartly not believing it.

ALLAAH's Promise of "NASR" is been granted with whoever fulfill one and only one condition and that is "The Iimaan".

There is long way to achieve Iiman.

Bismilaahi Rahmaani Rahiim
Salaamu Calaycum.
Firstly great essay and thank you for your great research and thoughts.
During the time of our Prophet, (SAW), and the rightly guided Caliphs, the MA and PA were one organisation and there were no political parties. So the question is do we need them? I am not a learned student of Islamic Studies and im not sure if my answer is Islamically correct but my view is we need this sort of governance.
Today, we dont have anyone we can trust to rule us with true Islam. There are lots of learned scholars of Islamic Studies but have no interest leading the nation, and lots of warlords and tribal elders and other educated men who want to lead the nation but have no or little Islamic base. So if we can divide the current political arena to two parallel but dependent organisations that must work together to deliver the final good, I think will bring peace. This system will be perfect to bring a long lasting peace and stability to Somalia.

Great Essay...but When you emphasize Islamic Sharia, Somalis have in the past followed the same school of thought or Madhab which was Shafici School...but now groups like Al-shabaab don't follow any school of thought and matter of fact would kill anyone who believe that...So how do reconcile this differences. Its like a cancer...before it Tribal Problems now its gonna be between Ahlusunna Wal-jamaca and the Al-shabaab Khawaarij.
